A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Major General Michael Ferriter, Commanding General of the U.S. Army
Maneuver Center of Excellence, has recently been named one of the 100 Most
Influential Georgians by Georgia Trend Magazine;
WHEREAS, General Ferriter will be managing the transformation of Fort
Benning as part of the (BRAC) Base Realignment and Closure expansion;
WHEREAS, through BRAC, the area population will increase by some 30,000
military personnel, students, civilian employees, contractors, family members
and retirees by September, 2011;
WHEREAS, construction work at Fort Benning will create an impact of more than
$3.5 billion on the base (which already has an annual impact of $2 billion)
through 2016;
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Major General Michael Ferriter are worthy of
special recognition by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend and congratulate Major General Michael Ferriter upon his
selection as one of the 100 Most Influential Georgians by Georgia Trend
Magazine. Columbus is proud of his accomplishments and we wish him every
success in the future. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Major
General Michael Ferriter.
