Meeting Minutes
Thursday, July 21, 2011
Call to order
Chairperson Greg Wagner called to order the regular meeting of the Public
Safety Advisory Committee at 4:10 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2011 in the
Community Room of Public Safety Center.
Roll call
Jeri Smallwood conducted a roll call. The following persons were present:
Daniel Williams, Charles Kurtz, Laverne Lee Brown, Valerie Thompson, Greg
Wagner and Willie Belfield Jr.
Absent: Andrew Holloman, Margaret Shafter, Jeremy Hobbs, Geniece Grandville
and John Pezold.
Approval of minutes from last meeting
The minutes were approved as read by each member, motion by Daniel Williams and
Charles Kurtz seconded the motion to approve.
Chairman Wagner addresses the committee
A correction should be made to the city?s website about the Public Safety
Advisory Committee meeting quarterly instead of monthly. The website states the
committee meets monthly.
A new complaint method had been devised, and if the committee needs to meet
monthly a meeting will be set up.
Mr. Charles Kurtz terms ends in October 2011. He has served on the committee
for 7 years. Mr. Wagner thanks Mr. Kurtz for his time with the committee.
Major J. Graham / Columbus Police Department/Patrol Services
Major J. Graham addressed the committee on the guidelines of CALEA.
Marshal G. Countryman / Marshal?s Department
Marshal Gregory Countryman gave a presentation on the role of the Marshal?s
Office.
Refuse to be a Victim Seminar
A seminar will be offered on, Refuse to be a Victim each month. See CCG TV for
details.
Adjournment
Chairperson Wagner thanks everyone for attending the meeting and the next
meeting will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2011.Mr. Wagner adjourned the
meeting at 5:15 p.m.
