WHEREAS, the State has discussed closing the Western Regional Crime Lab located
in Columbus within Fiscal Year 2010 due to a budget shortfall of $66,525.00
dollars;
WHEREAS, all 19 counties served by the Crime Lab are being asked to participate
in raising $66,525.00 dollars;
WHEREAS, a local Crime Lab is essential for the public safety and well being of
the citizens of Columbus and this Council desires the Crime Lab to remain open
through the end of Fiscal Year 2010;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby authorize the Mayor, City Manager and Finance Director to enter into
an agreement with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for the specific purpose
of keeping open the Western Regional Crime Lab and to expend up to $66,525.00
for the purpose of funding the Western Regional Crime Lab for Fiscal Year 2010.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
23rd day of March, 2010, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of
