A RESOLUTION
No.
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Columbus Council that the
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has reduced funding for
certain shelters housing people with mental and physical disabilities in
Columbus;
WHEREAS, the Stewart Community Home and the House of T.I.M.E. stand to
lose substantial funding from HUD due to a misunderstanding of the allocation
formula used in the grant requests by these agencies;
WHEREAS, this Council desires that the local congressional delegation inquire
into these matters and seek appropriate relief for these Columbus agencies with
respect to grant funding by HUD.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby request that the members of the local congressional delegation
inquire into the matter of funding by HUD for Columbus agencies including the
Stewart Community Home and House of T.I.M.E. and that they seek appropriate
relief for these Columbus agencies. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded
to each member of the local congressional delegation by the Clerk of Council.
