SUBJECT: Macy's "Heart Your Park" Donation



INITIATED BY: Parks and Recreation





Recommendation: Allow Parks and Recreation to receive a donation in the amount

of $250.00 from Macy?s ?Heart Your Park? to be used for Cooper Creek Park.



Background: Cooper Creek Park was selected for ?Heart Your Park,? a

program introduced as part of Macy?s ?Secret Garden? campaign, that aims to

raise awareness and dollars for local parks across the country. From March 7 to

March 31, customers at Macy?s Peachtree Mall location donated $1 or more at the

register, with 100 percent of the donations benefiting Cooper Creek Park. To

further spread the love, Macy?s matched the total customer donation across all

stores, dollar for dollar, up to $250,000 in total.



Analysis: Parks and Recreation is requesting to receive the donation of

$250.00 from the ?Heart Your Park? program to be used for Cooper Creek Park.



Financial Considerations: This will be at no cost to the City as it is a

private donation.



Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: N/A



Legal Considerations: Council must approve the acceptance of this donation.



Recommendations/ Actions: Approve the donation of $250.00 from Macy?s for the

?Heart Your Park? program to be used for Cooper Creek Park.







A RESOLUTION

NO. _____

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT TO ACCEPT THE

DONATION OF $250.00 FROM MACY?S FOR THE ?HEART YOUR PARK? PROGRAM.

WHEREAS, through the ?Heart your Park? campaign in association with National

Recreation and Parks Association, Macy?s stores across the country have each

selected a local park or green space to support, with more than 550 local parks

benefiting from the program. From March 7 to March 31, Macy?s customers donated

$1 or more at their local store, and 100 percent of donations will benefit that

store?s selected local park. Macy?s in turn will match the total donation

across all stores, dollar for dollar, up to $250,000; and,

WHEREAS, Cooper Creek Park was selected as one of those parks; and,



WHEREAS, through this campaign, $250.00 was raised for Cooper Creek

Park; and,



WHEREAS, this donation will be used for improvements to the park.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to accept a

donation in the amount of $250.00 from Macy?s ?Heart to Park? campaign.
