SUBJECT: Donation of Outdoor Benches - Frank Chester Senior Center



INITIATED BY: Parks and Recreation





Recommendation: Approval is requested to accept two Mainstay outdoor benches

donated by Walmart to the Seniors of Frank Chester Seniors Center.



Background: The benches are being donated for those seniors who wish to spend

time outside but are otherwise unable to stand for long periods of time.

Additionally these will be used so that seniors have a place to sit and wait to

be picked up for the day. The approximate cost of each item is $50.00 for a

total of $100.00.

Analysis: Parks and Recreation is requesting to receive the two items indicated

to use at the center for all participants.

Financial Considerations: This will be at no cost to the City as it is a

private donation.

Recommendation/Actions: Approval is requested to accept two Mainstay outdoor

benches donated by Walmart to the Seniors of Frank Chester Seniors Center.









A RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO APPROVE AND ACCEPT THE DONATION OF TWO

MAINSTAY OUTDOOR BENCHES TO BE PLACED OUTSIDE THE FRANK CHESTER SENIORS CENTER.



WHEREAS, the members of Frank Chester Senior Center accept the donation

of two Mainstay outdoor benches to be placed outside Frank Chester Seniors

Center for all participants to use; and,



WHEREAS, access to free public benches is beneficial for physical health as

they provide resting places for those Seniors with limited mobility; and,



WHEREAS, spending time outdoors is not only beneficial for mental health but it

also allows Seniors to connect with other Seniors from the center; and,



WHEREAS, the benches allow the Seniors to sit outside while waiting for their

rides to come; and,



WHEREAS, the benches will be permanently mounted making it less possible to be

stolen.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to accept two Mainstay outdoor

benches donated by Walmart to the Seniors of Frank Chester Seniors Center.
