SUBJECT: Property Acquisition ? 2100, 2102, 2200, 2210 Cusseta Road
and 2111 N. Andrews Circle

Recommendation: Approval is requested to acquire the following parcels in the
amount of $365,800 for continued redevelopment of the Enterprise Zone:
2100 Cusseta Road ? Parcel # 041 014 012 - $40,700
2102 Cusseta Road ? Parcel # 041 014 011 - $39,500
2200 Cusseta Road ? Parcel # 041 014 010 - $190,400
2210 Cusseta Road ? Parcel # 041 014 009 - $72,800
2111 N. Andrews Circle ? Parcel # 041 014 003 - $22,400
Background: These parcels have been identified as blighted structures on
underutilized land. The property has the potential cleaned up and marketed for
commercial redevelopment.
Analysis: The acquisition of these properties will provide an opportunity to
eliminate slum and blight, and to market a large tract of land for commercial
development along Cusseta Road. These properties are needed for continued
redevelopment of the Enterprise Zone.
Financial Considerations: The current balance of the Enterprise Zone Fund is
$1.2 million. The balance after the purchase of these properties will be
approximately $835,000.
Legal Considerations: Council must approve all matters related to real estate.
Recommendations: Approve a resolution authorizing the City Manager to acquire
the properties located at 2100, 2102, 2200, 2210 Cusseta Road and 2111 N.
Andrews Circle in the amount of $365,800 for the continued redevelopment of the
Enterprise Zone.
A RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACQUIRE THE PROPERTIES
LOCATED AT 2100, 2102, 2200, 2210 CUSSETA ROAD AND 2111 N. ANDREWS CIRCLE IN
THE AMOUNT OF $365,800 FOR THE CONTINUED REDEVELOPMENT OF THE ENTERPRISE ZONE.
WHEREAS, the properties located at 2100, 2102, 2200, 2210 Cusseta Road and 2111
N. Andrews Circle are located in the Enterprise Zone; and,
WHEREAS, the City desires to acquire the property for the purpose of promoting
commercial development in the area, by eliminating blighted structures,
creating job opportunities and enhancing the quality of life for the community;
and,
WHEREAS, the fair market value for all of the properties total $365,800 and all
of the current property owners have agreed to sell their parcels for the
appraised values; and,
WHEREAS, the Enterprise Zone project provided funding for property acquisition,
demolition, and infrastructure development to create jobs and promote economic
development in the Enterprise Zone.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to acquire the properties located at
2100, 2102, 2200, 2210 Cusseta Road and 2111 N. Andrews Circle in the amount of
$365,800 for the continued redevelopment of the Enterprise Zone.
