AN ORDINANCE

An ordinance amending the length of terms of members of the Development
Authority of Columbus, Georgia and the Downtown Development Authority of
Columbus, Georgia to four years so as to be consistent with Georgia statutes;
and for other purposes.

THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1.
Section 2-63 of the Columbus Code is hereby amended by deleting the
last paragraph in its entirety and substituting a new paragraph to read as
follows:
?Pursuant to O.C.G.A. Section 36-62-4, appointees to the Development
Authority of Columbus, Georgia shall serve for terms of four years. Appointees
may serve, when applicable, through expiration of a current term vacated for
any reason and for an additional two consecutive full terms.?
SECTION 2.
Chapter 2 of the Columbus Code is hereby amended by adding a new
Section 2-65.1 to read as follows:
?Pursuant to O.C.G.A. Section 36-42-4, the term of any member of the
Downtown Development Authority of Columbus, Georgia shall be four years.
Appointees may serve, when applicable, through expiration of a current term
vacated for any reason and for an additional two consecutive full terms. Any
provision of the Columbus Code or uncodified ordinance in conflict with this
Code section is hereby repealed.?
SECTION 3.
This ordinance shall apply to any appointments to the Development
Authority or Downtown Development Authority made after August 1, 2014.
SECTION 4.
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance
are hereby repealed.
