MINUTES # 46-08





The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Monday, December 29, 2008 at

9:00AM with Chairman William Braxton, Assessor Richard Stallings, Assessor

Lawton Grantham, Assessor Ann Grantham and Assessor Pat Hunter present. Also

present was Chief Appraiser Betty J. Middleton.



Assessor Pat Hunter made the motion to approve Min#45-08. Assessor Ann Grantham

seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.



The Board approved assessment corrections for real estate.



The Board received correspondence from Atty Hargrove regarding the homestead

exemption for a 30-year lease.



The Board discussed field reviews and requests for non-taxability for 2007.The

Board approved the request for PIDs 088 051 029 and 063 012 017; however,

denied the request for PID 046 002 017 for 2007 due to no clients being at this

location on January 1, 2007; the building was in the process of being

remodeled. Also the tax exempt status was denied for 2008 for PID 046 002 017

because there are two buildings on the land with one building being rented. The

Board requested a letter be mailed to the property owner explaining what needs

to be prepared for the property to be considered for non-taxability.



Met with Commercial Division Chief Linda King, reviewed and approved the

following:

? Maple Ridgge Phase II Apartments Project ? Series 2008; and Calvin S. Koonce

? Williams Road/Veterans Parkway Project - Series 2008.



Met with Personal Property Division Manager Oliver Juhan to discuss a letter

received from Attorney Mize requesting to meet with the Board regarding stock

purchase of multi-parcels real estate and personal property parcels.

Amendment to Minutes#45-08, the Board approved the mobile home cost valuation

for the year 2009.
