RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the Columbus High School Lady Blue Devils Tennis Team recently won
their first Class 5A State Championship in Jonesboro, Georgia;
WHEREAS, CHS defeated Kell 3-1 to win the championship at Clayton County
International Park;
WHEREAS, the Lady Blue Devils won No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-2 (Mary Weston
Courville), won No. 1 doubles 6-2, 6-3 (Madelyn Boren and Abby Courville), and
won No. 2 doubles 6-3, 6-3 (Nicole Gordon and Elizabeth Steelmon);
WHEREAS, the Lady Blue Devils had also defeated Cambridge in a tough 3-2
semi-final match;
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Columbus High School Lady Blue Devils
Tennis Team are worthy of special recognition by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend and congratulate the following members of the Columbus High
School Lady Blue Devils Tennis Team upon their first Class 5A Championship:
Maddison Abell, Caroline Boren, Madelyn Boren, Abigail Courville, Mary Weston
Courville, Lauryn Douglas, Nicole Gordon, Jazmine Moody, Elizabeth Steelmon,
Coach MikelAnna Hill and Coach Rick Gordon. Columbus is proud of this team and
we wish them every success in the future. Let a copy of this resolution be
forwarded to the above-named participants.
