RESOLUTION
NO.
WHEREAS, the Northern Little League Minor Baseball All-Star Team became the
2009 Kirkland Scott Memorial Minor Baseball Tournament Champions, by winning
the tournament held at Northern Little League in Columbus, Georgia on June
19-23, 2009, by defeating the Harris County All-Stars with a score of 14-0;
WHEREAS, the Northern Little League Minor All-Star Baseball Team, headed by
manager Jerrette Lee, won 18-0 over Sally Little League All-Stars on opening
night June, 19, 2009 and was victorious over the American Little League
All-Star team 8-6 on Fathers Day, Sunday June 21, 2009, and was victorious over
the Harris County All-Star team14-1 on Monday June 22, 2009 to get to the
championship game;
WHEREAS, the Northern Little League Minor All-Star team, finished the
tournament with a perfect 4-0 record outscoring their opponents by a combined
total of 54-7, and finally beating American Little League (which has stopped
Northern the past few years) along the way to the championship was special;
WHEREAS, this ending was special to the manager, Jerrette Lee, because he knew
Kirkland Scott, (for this tournament was named for after his death in 2003 from
a malignant brain tumor at the tender age of 7) from assisting his mother
during school days by opening the vehicle and school door for Kirkland at Britt
David Magnet Academy;
WHEREAS, a special trophy was made with all of the boys? names on it and will
be presented to the Scott?s family in a special ceremony at the school in
Kirkland?s memory.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
We hereby commend and congratulate the Northern Little League Minor All-Star
Team players, Jerrette Lee II, Stephen Broom, Jackson Jones, Essang Bassey,
Bryson Harper, Alex Tongson, Jake Martin, Tristan Shytle, Ashton, Greer, LaQuan
Copeland, Jacob Bartrug, Ralph Leary, Manager, Jerrette Lee, Team Mom, Leslie
Leary, and Coaches James Shytle, Rick Tongson and Stacey Jackson upon their
2009 Kirkland Scott Memorial Minor Baseball Tournament Championship. Columbus
is justly proud of this team?s hard work and dedication to be the best on the
field and in the classroom, and we wish them every success in the future. Let a
copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the above-named participants.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
28th day of July, 2009, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of
