THE GREATER COLUMBUS GOLF AUTHORITY

MINUTES OF MEETING

April 28, 2009

The Greater Columbus Golf Authority held the scheduled monthly meeting at Bull

Creek Golf Course. Members present were Aubry Burt, Nancy Wilkeson, Floyd

Washington, Michael Silverstein, Richard Hagler and Rev. Willie Hill. Rhudine

Nelson and Carl Williams had an excused absence. Rudy Allen had an unexcused

absence. Staff members present were John Milam and Steve Brown.

Minutes of them March 24, 2009 meeting were approved as presented. Motion made

by Michael Silverstein and seconded by Rev. Hill.

Old Business

No old business.

New Business

A yardage book was presented by Mr. Milam to the authority members to see if we

would like to pursue this opportunity for Bull Creek. It would be printed

without a charge to Bull Creek. The yardage book is not detailed, but still

provides guidance to newcomers at Bull Creek. A motion for Mr. Milam to go

ahead and pursue this matter was made by Aubry Burt and seconded by Michael

Silverstein.

Superintendent Report by Steve Brown

The greens have been dusted with sand and will improve weekly with the warmer

overnight temperatures. Fertilizer will be applied to the fairways in May at a

cost of $5,200 for the 36 holes.

Mr. Patrick O?Brien, USGA agronomist, visited the course on April 14th and made

the following recommendations: (1) hydro-jet the weaker turf on the greens

(2) only one aeration for Bull Creek; doing this in July, the greens will heal

quicker because of the warm temperatures. (3) Oxbow Creek will need two

aerations. (4) Be prepared to treat post-emerge weeds; the pre-emergence was

not completed because of the snow, two floods and the winds. (4) Begin

spraying the tees to get rid of the ryegrass.

Steve Brown has signed a four-year lease with Toro for new equipment which has

a two year warranty. They were cheaper than the bids from Jacobsen and John

Deere. Oxbow Creek will receive a four-year warranty with their equipment

lease since they do not have a mechanic on site.

Gravel has been added to the field lines near the snack bar where needed.

Pictures from the recent snow and floods were passed around. It is truly

amazing that the course is in such fine shape. Kudos to Steve Brown and his

staff for a job well done getting the courses back in shape. The driving range

and three East still have clean-up/repair work to be done.

Godwin Creek

Mr. Milam has spoken to Nan Hopkins and reports that the First Tee has received

a substantial check. A tournament is scheduled at Bull Creek for 21st of

September to raise funds for the First Tee. Godwin Creek might loose the green

on hole #1. This green sits low and has sustained damage from the recent

rains.

Director of Golf

Bull Creek revenues are down in March compared to the same time last year.

Oxbow Creek?s revenue is slightly higher in March compared to last year. Oxbow

Creek losses are less than the same time last year. Bull Creek?s expenses are

the same compared to the same time last year. It is all weather related.

Through the 22nd of April, Oxbow Creek is holding their own; however Bull Creek

is $20,000 off from last year?s figures. Again, this is weather related. Mr.

Milam stated that Lakewood Golf Course in Phenix City is in poor condition as

are the Ft. Benning courses.

Nancy Wilkeson asked by Mr. Milam if we could have a starter present on

weekdays when a golf tournament is schedule on the other 18 holes. The carts

are at times 10-15 deep when a lone golfer tees off. Mr. Milam will look into

this matter.

Richard Hagler adjourned the meeting at 4:27 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Nancy Wilkeson, Secretary
