SUBJECT: Juvenile Drug Court Grant
INITIATED BY: Juvenile Drug Court
Recommendation: Approval is requested to submit a grant application and if
approved, accept funds up to $150,000.00 or otherwise awarded, from the
Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the operation of the Muscogee County
Juvenile Drug Court and amend the Multi-Governmental Fund by the amount of the
grant award. The grant period is from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014.
Background: The State of Georgia has funds available to fund
Accountability Courts through the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.
Analysis: The Muscogee County Juvenile Drug Court is requesting funds to fund
grant funded positions including the Juvenile Drug Court Coordinator position.
Financial Considerations: The City is not required to provide matching funds
to participate in this grant program.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: There will be no additional expenses
and no match requirements.
Legal Considerations: The Columbus Consolidated Government is eligible to
apply for funds from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.
Recommendations/ Actions: Authorize to submit an application and if approved
accept a grant up to the amount of $150,000.00 or as otherwise awarded from the
Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the operation of the Muscogee County
Juvenile Drug Court from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014 and to amend the
Multi-governmental Fund by the amount of the grant award.
A RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION, AND IF APPROVED, ACCEPT
UPTO 150,000 OR THE AMOUNT OTHERWISE AWARD FROM THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE
COORDINATING COUNCIL TO FUND THE MUSCOGEE COUNTY JUVENILE DRUG COURT AND AMEND
THE MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND BY THE AMOUNT OF THE GRANT AWARD. THERE IS NO
LOCAL MATCH REQUIREMENT AND THE GRANT PERIOD IS JULY 1, 2013 TO JUNE 30, 2014.
WHEREAS, funds have been made available from the Criminal Justice Coordinating
Council for the Juvenile Drug Court from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014; and,
WHEREAS, the funds are being made available to provide support for the
operation of the Muscogee County Juvenile Drug Court; and,
WHEREAS, the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council does not require a local
match.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit an application,
and if approved, accept a grant up to $150,000.00 or otherwise awarded from the
Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the period of July 1, 2013 to June
30, 2014, with no local match requirement to fund the Muscogee County Juvenile
Drug Court and authorized to amend the Mulit-Governmental Fund by the amount of
the grant award.
