SUBJECT: Street Acceptance - That portion of Yarbrough Road, Yellow
Pine Road
and Calumet Drive located between Garrett Road and Macon Road
INITIATED BY: Engineering Department
Recommendation: Approval is requested for the acceptance of deeds to
that portion of Yarbrough Road, Yellow Pine Road and Calumet Drive located
between Garrett Road and Macon Road.
Background: That portion of Yarbrough Road, Yellow Pine Road and Calumet
Drive located between Garrett Road and Macon Road has been constructed as part
of a Memorandum of Understanding between Columbus Consolidated Government,
Midland-Thayer LLC, Burgin-Jackson and Willis Plantation, LLC. The streets have
been improved and meet the required specifications for acceptance by the City.
Analysis: Deeds have been conveyed to the City conveying that portion of
Yarbrough Road, Yellow Pine Road and Calumet Drive located between Garrett Road
and Macon Road. Descriptions of properties noted in each deed and referred to
as Exhibit A. Said roads and public right-of-ways are shown on the map or plat
entitled "Right-Of-Way for Columbus, Georgia Lying in Land Lots 130, 159 & 162,
9th District, prepared by Moon, Meeks, Mason & Vinson, Inc. dated June 1, 2011,
said plat recorded in Plat Book 163 pages 41 and 42, in the Office of the Clerk
of the Superior Court of Muscogee County, Georgia.
Financial Considerations: No City funds are involved until maintenance is
assumed after the two-year warranty.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: No City funds are involved until
maintenance is assumed after the two-year warranty.
Legal Considerations: In accordance with Section 18-3 of the Columbus Code, all
dedicated right-of-way must be accepted by Council.
Recommendations/ Actions: Approval is requested of a resolution accepting deeds
to that portion of Yarbrough Road, Yellow Pine Road and Calumet Drive located
between Garrett Road and Macon Road.
A RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DEED TO THAT PORTION OF YARBROUGH
ROAD, YELLOW PINE ROAD AND CALUMET DRIVE LOCATED BETWEEN GARRETT ROAD AND MACON
ROAD ON BEHALF OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA.
WHEREAS, Columbus, Georgia has been submitted deeds conveying that portion of
Yarbrough Road, Yellow Pine Road and Calumet Drive located between Garrett Road
and Macon Road, a full description of properties on said deeds; and,
WHEREAS, said streets have been improved and meet the required specifications
of acceptance by the City; and,
WHEREAS, the Engineering Department has inspected said streets and recommends
acceptance of same.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That certain deeds dated June 2, 2011, conveying Columbus, Georgia that
portion of Yarbrough Road, Yellow Pine Road and Calumet Drive located between
Garrett Road and Macon Road be and the same is hereby accepted. The Clerk of
Council is hereby authorized to have said deeds recorded in the Deed Records in
the Office of the Superior Court of Muscogee County, Georgia. A copy of deed is
hereto attached and by this reference made a part of this resolution.
