A RESOLUTION
No.
WHEREAS, Andrew Spenney, nine years old and a fourth-grader at Our Lady of
Lourdes School, recently raised money to build a home for a poor family in
Latin America;
WHEREAS, several years ago at a school Mass, a speaker with Food for the Poor
told students that it ministers to spiritually renew impoverished people
throughout Latin America and the Caribbean;
WHEREAS, Andrew raised money by selling lemonade and cookies in his yard and
when his family had a yard sale, he sold cocoa and donuts;
WHEREAS, at Christmas, Andrew told his parents and friends that he would not
need any presents, but to donate money to help raise money for the house that
he wanted to build;
WHEREAS, Andrew raised $1,250.00 and by December 31, 2008, an anonymous donor
matched Andrew?s gift;
WHEREAS, Food for the Poor let Andrew know where the home will be built and
mailed Andrew a model of the home, which contains two rooms and a porch;
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Andrew Spenney are worthy of special
recognition by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend and congratulate Andrew Spenney of Our Lady of Lourdes School
upon his initiative with Food for the Poor and his generosity toward his fellow
man. Columbus is proud of his accomplishments and we wish him every success in
the future. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Andrew Spenney.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
24th day of March, 2009, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of
