MINUTES # 16-09
The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Monday, April 27, 2009 at
9:00AM with Chairman William Braxton, Assessor Richard Stallings, Lawton
Grantham, Assessor Ann Grantham and Assessor Pat Hunter present. Also present
was Chief Appraiser Betty J. Middleton.
Assessor Richard Stallings made the motion to approve Min#15-09. Assessor
Lawton Grantham seconds the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Met with Mr. Blanchard, Mrs. Hardin of the Chamber of Commerce Mr. Sprouse
representative of the Development Authority. They did a power point
presentation on a point system for determination as to the level of the
incentives a client would receive when seeking a Development Authority
Industrial Revenue Bond. Mr. Blanchard and Mr. Sprouse explained that this is a
tool that Mrs. Hardin would use when meeting with potential clients. The Board
expressed their appreciation to them for what had been accomplished.
Betty apprised the Board that one application for Residential Enterprise Zone
had been received and approved.
Discussed with the Board a letter received from the taxpayer of PID 082 027
010, appealing the removal of homestead by the Tax Commissioner?s office. Board
wants to meet with her before making a decision.
Discussed with the Board excess Personal Property forms and the disposal of
same.
Met with Residential Division Manager Bob O?Brien, reviewed and approved
methodology for:

Met with Larry Dixon of the Personal Property Division representing the
Personal Property Manager Oliver Juhan, reviewed and approved the following:
Approval of Freeport Applications Only: 5
Met with Commercial Division Manager Linda King, reviewed and approved the
following:
Permits for 2009 and methodology: 25
Adjourned 11:30AM.
