COUNCIL MEETING OF MARCH 10, 2009





TO THE CITY MANAGER:



FLOOD DAMAGE:



Have the staff to take a look at those areas in his district that suffered

flood

damage that he has been emailing the City with regards to each of these

issues.

He said his hope is that the City will thoroughly evaluate the situation with

regards

to each particular site and try to determine what caused the flooding at each

of

these sites and what can be done in the future to alleviate that problem. Also,

with

regards to each of the citizens that he contacted the City about with regards

to their

flooding problems that we get back with them individually with a response, to

include the people in Benning Hills (Mr. & Mrs. Derrick Shields, Mr. Cortez

Taylor, Mr. & Mrs. George & Patsy Von Gardner), as well as those persons in

Battle Forrest who live on Gettysburg Way, who again have suffered mud

damage. (Request of Councilor Hunter)



Have the staff to provide a report of the houses that was reported for the

City to look at, and what action was taken. Also, have the staff to identify

each of the houses that you went to and what did you find; what was the City?s

responsibility in repairing the property. (Request of Councilor Woodson)



Let?s dedicate the March 31st Work Session to the discussion of those 19

properties that have been identified where flooding occurred during the

February 28th storm. (Request of Mayor Pro Tem Turner Pugh)

FLOOD INSURANCE:



With regards to flood insurance, let?s have the staff to look at doing

some public service announcements on our Government Channel with regards to

flood insurance, and the different types of coverages available. (Request of

Councilor Hunter)

PROPERTIES IN EAST HIGHLAND:



Have the staff to provide a report on those seven properties in East

Highland that she provided to the staff, as to what has been done with these

properties. Also, provide a report regarding the two issues of lighting.

AVONDALE DRIVE/HOWE AVENUE:



Have the staff to re-look at the situation again with the speed bumps on

Avondale Drive/Howe Avenue. (Request of Councilor Woodson)
