A RESOLUTION
No.
WHEREAS, Tiny B. Washington, Clerk of Council, was elected to the Board of
Directors of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks on May 27, 2010;
WHEREAS, Ms. Washington will serve a three year term ending in May 2013 and
will represent Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina;
WHEREAS, Ms. Washington is a 1977 graduate of Kendrick High School and 1991
graduate of Phillips Business College with an AA Degree in Business
Administration;
WHEREAS, she has been with the Columbus Consolidated Government since 1979
starting as a Clerk Typist in the Clerk of Council?s office;
WHEREAS, in 1995 she was the first African American female confirmed
unanimously by the 10-member Council to be the full-time permanent Clerk of
Council;
WHEREAS, she has served on various committees within the Georgia Municipal
Clerks and Finance Officers Association, as well as President of the
Association in 2007-2008;
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Tiny B. Washington are worthy of special
recognition by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend and congratulate Ms. Tiny B. Washington for being elected to
the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.
Columbus is proud of her accomplishments and we wish her every success in the
future. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Tiny B. Washington.
