Creek Golf Course. Members present were Chairman Richard Hagler, Earl Bagley,

made by Earl Bagley and seconded by Donald Clack.

Old Business

After discussion, a motion was made by Donald Clack and seconded by Nancy

Wilkeson to approve a plaque at Oxbow Creek honoring Mr. Howard Pitts. The

Authority unanimously agreed. This plaque will be situated near the driving

range. The Authority will invite City Counsel and regular players to attend

the dedication ceremony.

New Business

No new business.

Superintendent Report by Steve Brown

Rainfall is the last few weeks totaled 5.62 inches. The low temperature has

been 22.5 degrees. The greens have been painted and should not need painting

again. The fairways will be sprayed with herbicide to control summer weeds. We

will be using a different brand of herbicide, saving approximately $1000.

The new driving range building is completed. Repair work has begun on the cart

barn. The concrete slab will be poured for the vending machine between 11th

green and the 12th tee box on the West Course.

The cart path has eroded in several spots and flat rock has been and will be

installed as needed. Some eroded areas will require sod, which will be laid in

March. The sand bunker work (to remove pebbles) has been put on hold, due to

the rain. Three trees near the drainage area will be removed on 3 west to

allow for more sunlight. Additional sod will be installed where the erosion

has occurred.

All maintenance employees have completed the annual twenty hours of in-service

training.

An equipment lift has been installed at Oxbow Creek and Bull Creek.

Godwin Creek

Spraying of the course has been completed. The irrigation pump was repaired.

At the close of 2005, The First Tee Program had $34,000 in the bank. They have

been awarded a $30,000 grant from the USGA to be used for golf course access

and an additional $5,000 from the Atlanta Falcons to establish an after school

program. Additional grants that have been pledged from John and Abbott Turner

and Bill Ploeger. Two golf tournaments are scheduled, an insurance group

outing and an Optimist Club Tournament. The driving range is 99% completed.

They are looking for a canvas cover to provide shade. A plaque honoring the

Kirven?s for their contributions to the driving range will be dedicated in the

near future.

The National Meeting for the First Tee was held last month. Nan Hopkins

received the Volunteer and Leadership Award. The Authority Members

congratulate her for a job well done. The First Tee?s main focus is on youth

development (retain and growth). Fort Benning will offer a satellite program

under the Columbus? First Tee Chapter. Fort Benning?s representative is Rudy

Thorne and he will attend coach?s training classes.

Director of Golf

Bull Creek?s revenues are higher than compared to that of January 2005. The

expenses are down as well. Mr. Milam stated that the savings are mostly due to

Steve Brown?s diligent work at making ends meet and utilizing his

employees/prisoners to the fullest.

The monitor system has been installed at Oxbow Creek at a cost of $2000 to the

City. A new pump that will keep the irrigation system pressurized has been

installed.

In regards to the budge cuts by the City; Oxbow Creek will continue to loose

money with only a 9-hole course. Bull Creek has cut all they can cut without

jeopardizing the product. We have no ?fat? left.

June Holder asked Mr. Milam if we were purchasing a new ball washer for the

driving range. John said yes and added that new mats were being purchased as

well. It costs approximately $2000 to overseed the range per year and about

$400 per mat, so we will be saving money in the long run.

Chairman, Richard Hagler adjourned the meeting at 4:26 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Nancy Wilkeson, Secretary
