SUBJECT: Georgia Office of Homeland Security Critical Infrastructure
Protection Grant
INITIATED BY: Columbus Office of Homeland Security
Recommendation: Approval is requested to accept a grant of $250,000.00 from
the Georgia Office of Homeland Security for Critical Infrastructure Protection
and amend the budget through increasing the Multi-Governmental Fund 216 by
$250,000.00 of the actual amount funded.
Background: Funds have been allocated to the Georgia Office of Homeland
Security to provide equipment to be used in local jurisdictions for the
prevention of terrorist of related events and the protection of critical
infrastructure.
Analysis: Funding of this grant will vastly improve our ability to prevent
terrorist events and provide critical infrastructure protection.
Financial Considerations: The total grant request is for $250,000.00 and does
not require a local match.
Legal Consideration: The Columbus Consolidated Government is eligibility to
receive these funds.
Recommended/Action: Authorize the City Manager to accept a grant of
$250,000.00 from the Georgia Office of Homeland Security and amend the budget
through increasing the Multi-Governmental Fund 216 by $250,000 of the actual
amount funded program.
