A RESOLUTION
NO.
WHEREAS, Muscogee County Marshal?s Office employee Alicia Davenport filed
claims in District Court Case No. 4:14-CV-275-CDL against the Muscogee County
Marshal?s Office and Columbus Consolidated Government (?the City?) alleging
retaliation; and
WHEREAS, the City Attorney, City counsel and counsel to the Marshal have all
investigated the matter and recommend settlement with no admission of liability
in the amount of $83,000 in exchange for a full release signed by Davenport.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS
FOLLOWS:
We hereby authorize the City Manager, City Attorney and Finance
Director to make payment of $83,000 to settle the above referenced claims of
Alicia Davenport against any and all parties, including attorney?s fees. The
City Manager, City Attorney and Finance Director or their representatives are
authorized to execute all appropriate settlement documents to this effect.
