MINUTES
January 12, 2009

3:30 p.m.
A meeting of the Board of Historic and Architectural Review was held on Monday,
January 12, 2009, at 3:30 p.m., 420 10th Street, Government Center Annex,
Conference Room.

I. CALL TO ORDER
Will Burgin called the meeting to order at 3:32 p.m. Quorum was not
established. Chairman explained to applicants that since a quorum has not been
established, that they had a choice of allowing their cases to come forth or
waiting until the next BHAR meeting. All applicants agreed to allow their
cases to be heard with the understanding that the next BHAR meeting there would
be a final vote on the cases.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Will Burgin asked for a motion on the minutes for the December 8, 2008
meeting. Don Beall made a motion to approve the minutes. Jeff Reed seconded
the motion. Motion was carried unanimously and will be voted on at next
meeting.
III. REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS
NEW CASES:
HD 0901-01 ? 19 ? 12th Street: Empire Associates, LP., Applicant. Request
permission to modify existing structure. After a brief discussion, John
Sheftall made a motion to approve the application as submitted. Don Beall
seconded the motion. The motion was carried unanimously.
HD 0901-02 ? 2620 18th Avenue: R.G. Jones, Applicant. Request permission to
build deck and stairs. After a brief discussion, Sia Etamadi made a motion to
approve the application with the condition that applicant add bottom rail to
deck. Jeff Reed seconded the motion. The motion was carried unanimously.
HD 0901-03? 1030 Broadway: David Serrato, Applicant. Request permission to
add fence to top of building. Applicant stated that he would install smooth
side on outside portion of fencing. After a brief discussion, Sia Etemadi made
a motion to approve the application as submitted. John Sheftall seconded the
motion. The motion was carried unanimously.
HD 0901-04 ? 828 Overlook Drive: Trip & Teresa Tomlinson, Applicants. Request
permission to repair/redo existing shed and fence/gates. After a brief
discussion, Sia Etemadi made a motion to approve the application with the
condition that windows will be 2/3 wood windows. Jeff Reed seconded the
motion. The motion was carried unanimously.
IV. OLD BUSINESS
John Sheftall made a motion to excuse absences from the December meeting. Jeff
Reed seconded the motion. The motion was carried unanimously.
V. NEW BUSINESS
Talked about filling the BHAR opening for Home Builders.
