Subject

Gov. Deal in Columbus 4/25/2012 for Bill Signings

Good Afternoon.

Gov. Deal will be in Columbus next at 3:30 PM Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at the

National Infantry Museum. He will sign two bills that are significant to our

region and the state at large:

SB 227 - This bill allows Georgia to join the Interstate Compact for

Educational Opportunity for Military Children, an organization that assures

that students whose parents are active duty military can move from state to

state without losing academic credits.

SB 473 - This bill allows active duty military to receive the Purple Heart car

license plate, if they have been awarded the Purple Heart medal. Previously,

only veterans, which the Georgia Department of Revenue defined as no longer on

active duty, were eligible to get the plate.

Please let us know if you can join us. Thanks!

Very respectfully,

Colin T. Martin
