SUBJECT: Columbus Lions - Lease Agreement
INITIATED BY: Department of Community Reinvestment
Recommendation: Approval is requested to enter into a five-year Lease
Agreement with Columbus Indoor Football Team, LLC d/b/a Columbus Lions for use
of the home dressing rooms at Golden Park. (See Lease and Attachments).
Background: The Columbus Lions located in Columbus started in 2007. The
league provides an alternative recreational source for the city of Columbus in
the form of arena football. The Lions are requesting use of the home dressing
rooms at Golden Park.
Analysis: The Columbus Lions will be responsible for the use/upkeep of the
interior to include the payment of all utilities, cable, internet, telephone
and fax costs for the duration of the Lease. The Lions will not have use of
any other facilities at Golden Park.
Financial Considerations: The Columbus Lions will pay $1 per year for the use
of the facility for 5 years. Should the city of Columbus contract with a minor
league baseball team the Lions will have to vacate the space.
Legal Considerations: Any lease agreement involving this City requires Council
approval.
Recommendations/ Actions: Approval is requested for the City Manager to
enter into a Lease agreement with Columbus Indoor Football Team, LLC, d/b/a/
Columbus Lions.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A LEASE AGREEMENT WITH THE
COLUMBUS LIONS TO USE THE HOME DRESSING ROOMS AT GOLDEN PARK FOR 5 YEARS AT $1
PER YEAR.
WHEREAS, the Columbus Indoor Football LLC, d/b/a the Columbus Lions has agreed
to provide professional indoor football; and,
WHEREAS, the Columbus Lions will be responsible for the use/upkeep of
the interior to include the payment of all utilities, cable, internet,
telephone and fax costs for the duration of the Lease. The Lions will not have
use of any other facilities at Golden Park; and,
WHEREAS, the Columbus Lions will pay $1 per year for the use of the
facility for 5 years. Should the city of Columbus contract with a minor league
baseball team the Lions will have to vacate the space; and,
WHEREAS, the Columbus Lions are in need of addition space for dressing rooms.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a five-year Lease
Agreement with the Columbus Lions to use the home dressing rooms at Golden Park
for 5 years at $1 per year. Should the city of Columbus contract with a minor
league baseball team the Lions will have to vacate the space.
