RESOLUTION
NO.
WHEREAS, General H. R. McMaster, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Maneuver
Center of Excellence, will be leaving Fort Benning, Georgia on reassignment to
Virginia;
WHEREAS, Gen. McMaster has been nominated for promotion to the rank of
Lieutenant General on February 18, 2014 and is being reassigned as Deputy
Commanding General, Futures/Director, Army Capabilities Integration Center,
United States Army Training and Doctrine Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis,
Virginia;
WHEREAS, Gen. McMaster assumed command at Fort Benning on June 13, 2012 and has
been a tremendous partner with the Columbus community and the Consolidated
Government;
WHEREAS, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army upon
graduation from the United States Military Academy in 1984 and holds a Ph.D. in
military history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill;
WHEREAS, prior to his service at Fort Benning, Gen McMaster served as
Commander, Combined Joint Inter-Agency Task Force Shafafiyat (Transparency) in
Kabul, Afghanistan;
WHEREAS, he has also commanded Eagle Troop, Second Armored Cavalry Regiment in
Bamberg, Germany and in Southwest Asia during the 1991 Persian Gulf War; 1st
Squadron, 4th Cavalry in Scheinfurt, Germany from 1999-2002; and 3d Armored
Cavalry Regiment at Fort Carson, Colorado and in Iraq from June, 2004-June,
2006;
WHEREAS, Gen. McMaster has also served as Special Assistant to Commander,
Multinational Force-Iraq from February, 2007-May, 2008; director, Commander?s
Advisory Group at U.S. Central Command from May, 2003-2004; and squadron
executive officer and regimental operations officer in the 11th Armored Cavalry
Regiment from July, 1997-July, 1999;
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Major General H. R. McMaster are worthy of
special recognition by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend and congratulate General H.R. McMaster upon his nomination
for promotion and wish him every success as he assumes his new duties at the
United States Army Training and Doctrine Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis,
Virginia. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Major General H. R.
McMaster.
