SUBJECT: Use of Salary Savings
INITIATED BY: Fire/EMS Department / Finance Department
Recommendation: Approval is requested authorizing the use of Salary Savings in
the FY16 Fire/EMS Department budget to provide for furnishings and equipment at
Fire Station #9 in the amount of $48,743.93.
Background: The Fire/EMS Department has had vacancies throughout the FY16
budget year which has creating salary savings. The Fire Station #9 is nearing
completion and the funding is available to furnish the new Fire Station thru
salary savings to include but not limited to tables, chairs, beds, lockers,
storage cabinets, etc.
Analysis: The FY16 Fire/EMS Department Budget has funding available in Salary
Savings to date to cover this expense.
Financial Considerations: The request is made to utilize salary savings to
provide for furnishings at Fire Station #9.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: No annual fiscal impact.
Legal Considerations: Council approval is required to utilize Salary Savings.
Recommendations/Actions: Approval is requested authorizing the use of Salary
Savings in the FY16 Fire/EMS Department budget to provide for furnishings and
equipment at Fire Station #9 in the amount of $48,743.93.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE USE OF SALARY SAVINGS IN THE FY16 FIRE/EMS
DEPARTMENT BUDGET TO PROVIDE FOR FURNISHINGS AND EQUIPMENT AT FIRE STATION #9
IN THE AMOUNT OF $48,743.93.
WHEREAS, Columbus Council approved the FY16 Operating Budget on June 16, 2015;
and,
WHEREAS, there is salary savings currently available within the FY16 Fire/EMS
Department Adopted Budget; and,
WHEREAS, the Fire/EMS Department is requesting to use salary savings to provide
furnishings and equipment for Fire Station #9.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
That the Fire/EMS Department is hereby authorized to use $48,743.93 in salary
savings to provide for furnishings and equipment at Fire Station #9.
