A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Lonnie Jackson died on
September 21, 2006 at his home in Columbus;
WHEREAS, Sgt. Jackson was the founder and leader of the Combined
Communities of Southeast Columbus which has benefited over 23,000 students
through its tutorial programs;
WHEREAS, in light of Sgt. Jackson?s love for education, this Council deems it
appropriate to request that the Muscogee County School District consider naming
a school in memory of Sgt. Lonnie Jackson.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby request that the Muscogee County School District consider
naming a school in memory of Sgt. Lonnie Jackson, founder of Combined
Communities of Southeast Columbus. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded
to the Muscogee County School District.

3rd day of October, 2006, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote
