SUBJECT: Fire & EMS - FY12 Other Local Option Sales Tax Reallocation
INITIATED BY: Fire & EMS / Finance Department
Recommendation: Approval is requested to reallocate $24,310 of the FY12
Budget-Other Local Option Sales Tax for the Fire & EMS Department from Personal
Protective Equipment (Turn out gear) Fire & EMS LOST project to purchase a
zodiac boat/motor ($14,964) and fire hose ($9,346).
Background: The FY12 Budget for the Other Local Option Sales Tax was approved
on June 21, 2011, which included $195,000 for the Fire & EMS Personal
Protective Equipment (Turn out gear). As part of the FY12 budget, council
approved specific capital outlay to be purchased.
Analysis: Fire & EMS was budgeted at $195,000 and the awarded contract amount
was $170,690. The Personal Protective Equipment (Turn out gear) was budgeted at
$195,000 and the awarded amount was $170,690 leaving a balance of approximately
$24,310.
Financial Considerations: The balance of the Fire & EMS Personal Protective
Equipment (Turn out gear) can be reallocated to another Other LOST purpose.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: Immediate need of Fire & EMS Personal
Protective Equipment (Turn out gear) was met with the purchase made from the FY
12 LOST funds.
Legal Considerations: Council approval required for reallocation of Other LOST
budget.
Recommendations/Actions: Approve a resolution reallocating $24,310 of the FY12
Budget-Other Local Option Sales Tax for the Fire & EMS from Personal Protective
Equipment (Turn out gear) to purchase a zodiac boat/motor ($14,964) and fire
hose ($9,346).
A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Columbus Council approved the FY12 Operating Budget on June
21, 2011; and,
WHEREAS, the FY12 Other Local Option Sales Tax budget for the Fire &
EMS included $195,000 for the Personal Protective Equipment (Turn out gear);
and,
WHEREAS, the bid for the Personal Protective Equipment (Turn out gear)
was purchased for $170,690; and,
WHEREAS, Fire & EMS requests to reallocate $24,310 of the FY12
Budget-Other Local Option Sales Tax for the Fire & EMS from Personal Protective
Equipment (Turn out gear) to purchase a zodiac boat/motor ($14,964) and fire
hose ($9,346).
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
That the Fire & EMS is hereby authorized to reallocate $24,310 to
purchase a zodiac boat/motor ($14,964)and fire hose ($9,346).
