At the time original inspection was made, structure was abandoned.
Owner has done nothing either to repair or demolish.
III: CHRONOLOGY
9-22-06 Property Maintenance Inspector inspected the property, and found the
structure to be abandoned, made photographs of the property, and wrote up
?Inspector?s Condemnation Report?.
10-11-06 Notice of hearing to be held mailed to owner of record.
10-25-06 Hearing held. Forty-five day ?Notice to Repair or Demolish? mailed to
owner.
12-6-06 Owner purchased permits to repair exterior stair. No work ever done,
permit expired.
12-14-06 Inspections revealed that property had been partially secured, no
other progress.
7-10-07 Requested asbestos survey and price to complete demolition from Reaves
Wrecking Company.
7-12-07 Letter mailed to owner that we were requesting asbestos survey and
pricing to complete demolition, after which we would send to Council for
approval.
7-19-07 Jennifer Miller, Reaves Wrecking Company, Inc., priced the cost of
asbestos removal and completing the demolition at $8,352.00.
7-24-07 Owner called and expressed desire to start on repairs in August, or
sell.
8-14-07 Owner called and advised that she has sold this property and faxed a
deed. The deed was dated August 17th, owner stated this was an error and faxed
a corrected copy. (Deed was never recorded.)

9-10-07 New owner called to advise that a building permit had been purchased
for this address, upon inspection, it was noted that the permit was in the name
of the old owner. Inspector advised new owner to purchase permit in his name.
9-12-07 Notice of hearing to be held mailed to new owner.
9-26-07 Hearing held. Forty-five day ?Notice to Repair or Demolish? mailed to
owner.
10-9-07 Owner purchased permit to repair. No work ever done permit expired.
11-20-07 Inspections revealed that no progress has been made.
3-4-08 Property offered for sale at tax sales. It did not sell. (Taxes due
since 2004)
8-11-08 Letter mailed to owner that we were requesting asbestos survey and
price to complete demolition, after which we would send to Council for approval.
8-11-08 Requested asbestos survey and pricing to complete demolition from
Reaves Wrecking Company.
8-22-08 Jennifer Miller, Reaves Wrecking Company, Inc., had submitted a price
for asbestos removal and completing the demolition on July 19, 2007 for
$8,352.00.
8-25-08 Re-inspections and new photographs revealed that no progress has been
made.
8-28-08 Letter mailed to owner advising cost of demolition and Council dates.
9-7-08 Ordinance providing for demolition goes to Council for first reading.
09-14-08 Ordinance providing for demolition goes to Council for second
reading. Council votes to demolish.
10-02-08 Owner and real estate agent call and advise that property is under
contract for sale to someone who plans to make laundry mat there They ask
Inspections and Codes to stop demolition. Staff advises that we cannot/will
not stop demolition without Council instruction.
10-15-08 Owner applies to be on Council agenda on Tues. Oct. 21, 2008, to
ask Council for reversal of demolition order.
