A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Columbus State University led by Dr. Timothy S. Mescon, is the first
university in the State of Georgia to adopt the curriculum endorsed by the
Society for Human Resource Management for an undergraduate degree in Human
Resources;
WHEREAS, the Society is the largest professional society in the world with over
250,000 members and Columbus hosts the second largest chapter in Georgia;
WHEREAS, CSU has a $224 million annual impact on the regional and state economy;
WHEREAS, CSU provides more than 55 percent of Muscogee County?s teachers and
educates more than 50 percent of the nurses in local hospitals;
WHEREAS, CSU awards more than $1.5 million in scholarships annually to more
than 750 students and has invested more than $112 million into its downtown
RiverPark campus;
WHEREAS, CSU is launching a bachelor?s degree program in human resource
management that will be the first of its kind in Georgia to meet the standards
set forth by the Society of Human Resource Managers;
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Dr. Timothy S. Mescon, President of Columbus
State University, are worthy of special recognition by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend Dr. Timothy S. Mescon, President of Columbus State
University, for his leadership in the Columbus community and the Human
Resources profession in the State of Georgia. Let a copy of this resolution be
forwarded to Dr. Timothy S. Mescon.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
8th day of September, 2009, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote
