RESOLUTION
NO.
WHEREAS, O.C.G.A. ?48-5-7.4 (a)(3) authorizes county governing authorities to
establish a minimum number of acres as a condition for qualifying for current
use valuation and taxation of bona fide conservation use property and bona fide
residential transitional property;
WHEREAS, the Council of Columbus, Georgia wishes to establish a minimum number
of acres for qualifying for such current use valuation and taxation pursuant to
O.C.G.A. ?48-5-7.4(a)(3);
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
In addition to all other requirements of State law, the minimum number of acres
necessary to qualify for current use valuation and taxation in Muscogee County,
Georgia shall be twenty-five (25) acres.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that pursuant to O.C.G.A. ?48-5-7.4(a)(3) the
twenty-five acre minimum established by this Resolution shall apply exclusively
to qualified property that is first made subject to a covenant required by
O.C.G.A. ?48-5-7.4(d) or is subject to the renewal of a previous covenant
required by O.C.G.A. ?48-5-7.4(d) of this Code section on or after January 1,
2012.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be duly entered upon the
minutes and a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the Muscogee County
Board of Tax Assessors.
