WHEREAS, the Brookstone Lady Cougars Tennis Team recently captured the their
eleventh Class A State Championship in Jonesboro, Georgia;
WHEREAS, the Lady Cougars defeated Stratford Academy 3-0 at Clayton County
International Park to secure the victory;
WHEREAS, Brookstone won No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-0 (Sammi Rice?-undefeated season),
won No. 1 doubles 6-0, 6-0 (Lillie Patton and Abbie Dillon), and won No. 2
doubles 6-1, 6-1 (Abigail Pitts and Gracie Glass);
WHEREAS, Brookstone finished the 2016 season with a record of 18-2;
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Brookstone Lady Cougars tennis team and
Coach Mary Lynne Cumiskey are worthy of special recognition by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend and congratulate the following of the Brookstone Lady Cougars
tennis team upon winning their eleventh State Class A Championship: Gracie
Glass, Gracie Hemmings, Lillie Patton, Sammi Rice, Zoe Vazquez, Abbie Dillon,
Abigail Pitts, Rachel Hemmings, and Coach Mary Lynne Cumiskey. Columbus is
proud of this team?s accomplishments and we wish them every success in the
future. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the above-named
participants.

24th day of May, 2016, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of
