A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT A
NON-MATCHING U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY EQUIPMENT GRANT FROM THE
COMMERCIAL EQUIPMENT DIRECT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (CEDAP).
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Commercial Equipment Direct
Assistance Program equipment and training will be utilized for critical
infrastructure protection equipment and terrorism prevention; and,
WHEREAS, this Council finds that this U.S. Department of Homeland Security
Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program grant is needed for the
prevention, deterrence, detection, and response to the critical infrastructure,
special events and other related or possible terrorist or criminal events
within the city of Columbus and or surrounding area, the interest of the
consolidated government therein is to provide the citizens of Columbus a secure
Homeland through the acceptance and utilization of the U.S. Department of
Homeland Security Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program grant
equipment and required training.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to accept an equipment grant
from the Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP) sponsored by
the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for the Thermovision Scout ZX thermal
imaging device and funding for required travel and training.
