A meeting of the Board of Historic and Architectural Review was held on Monday,
August 10, 2009, at 3:30 p.m., 420 10th Street, Government Center Annex.

I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Will Burgin called the meeting to order at 3:37 p.m.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Will Burgin asked for a motion on the minutes for the July 16, 2009
meeting. _________________ made a motion to approve the minutes. Sandi Green
seconded the motion. Motion was carried unanimously.
Chairman Will Burgin asked that the Staff Reports from River Valley RC and
Historic Columbus is read and approved as part of the BHAR meeting. Sandi
Green made a motion to approve the Staff Reports. Reynolds Bickerstaff
seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.
III. REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS
NEW CASES:
HD 0908-01 ? 1331 Peacock Avenue: Marty Hyneman, Applicant. Request permission
to demolish existing garage and rebuild. Chairman Will Burgin read staff
report for this case. After a brief discussion, Virginia Peebles made a motion
to approve the application with the condition that the applicant use the
original wooden doors on the side of the garage and that Sia Etemadi would
approve all other materials on site. Reynolds Bickerstaff seconded the
motion. The motion was carried unanimously.
HD 0908-02 ? 429 2nd Avenue: Historic Columbus Foundation (represented by Sia
Etemadi), Applicant. Request permission to use S.A. Mod Bit system roofing
over the back addition of the house. Will Burgin read the Staff Report for this
case. After a brief discussion, John Sheftall made a motion to approve the
application as submitted. Jeff Reed seconded the motion. The motion was
carried unanimously.
HD 0908-03 ? 1805 Wildwood Avenue: Sally Sinclair, Applicant. Request
permission to install wooden fence along front and one side of the property.
Will Burgin read Staff Report for this case. After a brief discussion, Virginia
Peebles made a motion to deny the application. John Sheftall seconded the
motion. The motion was carried unanimously.
HD 0908-04 ? 222 7th Street: Garry Pound, Applicant. Request permission to
continue wooden fence on property. Will Burgin read Staff Report for this
case. After a brief discussion, Sia Etemadi made a motion to approve the
application with the condition that the fence must match existing fence. Sandi
Green seconded the motion. The motion carried.
HD 0908-05 ? 1621 17th Street: Marylin Amato, Applicant. Request permission
to remove existing steps on the side of the house and relocate them to the
front of the house and install steps to access front entrance. Will Burgin
read Staff Report for this case. Sia Etemadi made a motion to approve with the
conditions: the steps must be ?cut? into the brick wall and not protrude into
the driveway and the new construction on the front porch must match existing
design and materials. The motion for approval was carried unanimously.
IV. OLD BUSINESS
Excused absences: Motion was carried unanimously for the absences.
