Agenda Item # 3
Columbus Consolidated Government
Council Meeting
February 5, 2013
Agenda Report # 26
TO: Mayor and Council
SUBJECT: CCG Employee Health/Wellness Facility Lease Agreement with
Columbus Regional Healthcare Systems, Inc.
INITIATED: Human Resources Department
Recommendation: Approval is requested to enter into a 5-year lease agreement
with Columbus Regional Healthcare Systems, Inc., for the specified medical
office space identified as 2000 10th Avenue, Suite 410 for a CCG
Health/Wellness Facility.
Background: The Columbus Council approved a contract with TransformHealthRx to
operate an employee clinic. Because the next step in opening the clinic is to
secure a site, the City Manager appointed an evaluation team to review all
available sites for feasibility.
Analysis: Ten sites were initially identified and evaluated with a consensus
recommendation to lease the above referenced office space as the most
appropriate in cost, functionality, availability and employee access.
Financial Considerations: The monthly rental rate for the recommended property
is $2,914 including utilities, almost $1000 per month less than provided for in
the original clinic operational cost estimates.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: The clinic is projected to save $1.1
million in the first year of operations by reducing the cost of medical claims.
Legal: Authorization of Council to enter into a rental contract with Columbus
Regional is required.
Recommendation/Actions: The City Manager, Director of Community Reinvestment,
Human Resources Director, Finance Director and Internal Auditor recommend the
proposed contract.
