SUBJECT: Rotary Clubs of Columbus Donation for Rotary Park



INITIATED BY: Parks and Recreation





Recommendation: Approval is requested for the acceptance of a donation of

approximately $10,500 from the Rotary Clubs of Columbus, Georgia to enhance the

amenities at Rotary Park.



Background: The Rotary Clubs of Columbus received funding to enhance

amenities at Rotary Park which bears the organization?s name. The project would

include the following: Muscogee Rotary to upgrade signage, North Columbus

Rotary to add five (5) BBQ grills, and Rotary Club of Columbus to install

exercise equipment. Columbus Parks and Recreation Department supports the

Rotary Clubs of Columbus desire to enhance the amenities and quality of life at

Rotary Park.



Analysis: The participating Clubs and Columbus Parks and Recreation are aware

of future plans for a Rowing Center at Rotary Park; therefore, all plans and

work will be vetted through Deputy City Manager David Arrington to ensure

communication and collaboration among all involved in this project.



Financial Considerations: The Rotary Clubs of Columbus, Georgia will fund all

amenity enhancements at Rotary Park. The City will not be required to fund any

part of the project.



Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: None expected.



Legal Considerations: Council must approve the acceptance of this donation.



Recommendations/ Actions: Approve acceptance of a donation from the Rotary

Clubs of Columbus, Georgia to enhance amenities at Rotary Park.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE AND ACCEPT A DONATION

FROM THE ROTARY CLUBS OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA FOR ENHANCEMENT OF ROTARY PARK.

WHEREAS, the Rotary Clubs of Columbus received funding to enhance the amenities

at Rotary Park which bears the organization?s name; and,

WHEREAS, the project would include the following: Muscogee Rotary to upgrade

signage, North Columbus Rotary to add five (5) BBQ grills, and Rotary Club of

Columbus to install exercise equipment. Columbus Parks and Recreation

Department supports the Rotary Clubs of Columbus desire to enhance amenities

and quality of life at Rotary Park; and,



WHEREAS, the value of the equipment and installation that Rotary Club of

Columbus, Georgia will gift to the City will be approximately $10,500 and will

be at no cost to the City.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:



That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to accept

items listed above from The Rotary Club of Columbus, Georgia to enhance

amenities at Rotary Park.
