RESOLUTION
NO.
WHEREAS, the National Museum of African American History and Culture was
created on December 19, 2003 when President George W. Bush signed legislation
establishing the Museum as part of the Smithsonian Institution;
WHEREAS, Robert L. Wright, a Board Member of AFLAC, Inc., has served as
Chairman of the Presidential Commission to establish this prestigious Museum;
WHEREAS, the Museum will be governed by the Smithsonian Institution?s Board of
Regents and will be located at ?Monument Site? bounded by Constitution Avenue,
Madison Drive, and 14th and 15th Streets in Washington, D.C.;
WHEREAS, Mr. Wright?s service on this important Commission is worthy of special
recognition by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend Mr. Robert L. Wright for serving as Chairman of the
Presidential Commission for the study and establishment of the National Museum
of African American History and Culture. Let a copy of this resolution be
forwarded to Mr. Robert L. Wright.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
4th day of April, 2006, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of
ten members of Council.
