Subject: request for a meeting with Columbus Council
Hello Tiny,
On behalf of the Columbus Tree Board, I request about 15 -20 minutes at a
working non-public meeting of the Columbus Council in order to present the
Muscogee County tree canopy assessment. This has been an on-going project or
the Tree Board for eighteen months.
Tree Board member Troy Keller, a CSU professor conducted a special remote
sensing class at CSU focused on assessing natural resources including tree
canopy's. A graduate student from that class will present the results of where
in the county there is canopy as well as no canopy. She will also present an
analysis for ecosystem values of the canopy including cost/benefits of trees.
We worked with Joseph DiAngelo of the GIS department of CCG in utiliizing
imagery they had acquired He attended the class and gave us feedback when we
presented results.
Please advise when we can come to Council to present our results and suggested
uses of the data.
Thank you,
Bill Consoletti
