Request to amend the text of the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) to

streamline language as it relates to billboards and multiple message signs.



PROPOSED TEXT AMENDMENT







PLANNING ADVISORY COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION



The Planning Advisory Commission (PAC) considered this text amendment at their

meeting on May 5, 2010. The PAC recommended approval with an amendment. The

PAC recommended that the distance requirement between multiple message boards

on the same side of the street be extended from 5,000 feet to 15,000 feet. The

amendment was approved by a vote of 4-3.



PLANNING DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION



The Planning Department recommended approval as originally submitted on May 10,

2010. However, upon guidance from Council, the Planning Department brought the

Billboard Committee back together to reach consensus on two issues. Staff has

made alterations and is prepared to move forward regarding this issue. The

Planning Department recommends approval as currently submitted as of November

30, 2010.
