SUBJECT: Anonymous Additional Donation for Cooper Creek
Pickleball Courts
INITIATED BY: Parks and Recreation
Recommendation: Approval is requested to accept a donation given by an
anonymous donor for Cooper Creek Tennis Center.
Background: A citizen has requested to donate an additional $60,000.00 to
Cooper Creek Tennis Center to be used for the addition of the Pickleball Courts
to the facility. This additional money will be used to move the current
hitting wall, aid in the building of the Pickleball courts and any other use
the Parks and Recreation staff deem as needed. The donor has requested that
there is no public attention to their name so they will remain anonymous at
this time.
Analysis: The citizen has expressed a desire to put forward more funding for
the Pickleball courts and all things association with it the funds as
determined by the center supervisor and the Parks and Recreation Department.
Staff has determined that this will be advantageous to the center due to the
rising popularity of Pickleball and that these courts are much needed.
Financial Considerations: This will be at no cost to the City as it is a
private donation.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: None is expected.
Legal Considerations: Council must approve the acceptance of this donation.
Recommendations/Actions: Approve the additional donation in the amount of
$60,000.00 to be used towards installing Pickleball Courts and moving the
hitting wall at Cooper Creek Tennis Center.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO APPROVE AND ACCEPT THE DONATION OF
$60,000.00 FROM AN ANONYMOUS DONOR TO BE USED TOWARDS ADDING PICKLEBALL COURTS
AT COOPER CREEK TENNIS CENTER.
WHEREAS, A citizen has donated an additional $60,000.00 to Cooper Creek Tennis
Center to be used to install Pickleball Courts, move the hitting wall and any
other work needed at the Tennis Center. The donor has requested that there is
no public attention to their name so they will remain anonymous at this time;
and,
WHEREAS, the anonymous donor has expressed a desire to have this money used
towards needs for the betterment of the Tennis Center by adding Pickleball
Courts at the discretion of the Tennis Supervisor and Parks and Recreation
Department; and,
WHEREAS, the citizen has donated this money and will be of no cost to the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to accept $60,000.00
donated by an anonymous donor for use at Cooper Creek Tennis Center to aid in
the building of the Pickleball Courts.
