REFERRALS FROM MAYOR & COUNCIL

COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 13, 2011 ? CONT?D

2. BID ADVERTISEMENT:

Have the staff to check to see why the bid specification for vehicle purchases

in the bid advertisement is asking just for the Chevrolet model vehicles.

(Request of Councilor McDaniel)

Response:

Response from Director of Finance, Pam Hodge:

The bid was advertised as requested by the Police and Sheriff. However, when

both entities were asked to provide a justification for the specified model

vehicles, i.e standardization etc., no defendable justification was provided.

Therefore, Purchasing issued an addendum on September 9, 2011, which clarified

that vendors could bid any model vehicle that was equivalent or surpassed the

stated models.

Since the Purchasing agenda is prepared a week in advance, the bid

advertisement was inadvertently not updated to reflect the addendum change.

approximate 12 x 14 plaque.
