TREASURER?S REPORT

The Treasurer?s Report was presented by Jack Collins and filed for audit.

PROGRAM

Drale Short, CCG Special Enforcement, gave an interesting program on how her

department works to keep our city clean and free from litter in the

neighborhoods. She stated ?solid waste? is anything not being used as it was

intended.

PETITIONS & COMMUNICATIONS

There is a forum on recycling in Columbus to be held tonight, August 12, 2008,

at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. The city is debating having one trash

pickup day instead of two a week. All members of the Commission are encouraged

to attend. Gloria encouraged all Commissioners to get a blue bin and recycle

in their homes.

2008-2009 KCBC CALENDAR REVIEW/COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS

Beth encouraged all the Commissioners to read the new calendar and put

important dates on their personal calendar. She also asked them to decide

which projects they want to volunteer for. We will be asking for Commissioners

to sign up for the different committees at the October meeting.

OLD BUSINESS

Development of a Finance Team: This is ongoing and we will report more at a

later date.

.

Recycle Trailer Artwork ? Several Commissioners have not thought the artwork on

the recycling trailer is appropriate. Each selection is a tattoo. KGB is

making several different images available that can be used on the trailer. The

cost to change the image will be about $3,000.00, which would be paid by KCBC.

The discussion is ongoing and no decision has been made. Gloria suggested

possibly attaching a banner to the trailer, and the expense would be a less.

The Commissioners were encouraged to make use of the recycling bins, along with

the trailer, at any events they participate in. There are 100 recycling bins

to be loaned out to promote recycling at large events or small neighborhood

events.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Next Commissioners Meeting will be October 14, 2008
