SUBJECT: Street Acceptance - that portion of Sorrel Drive and that

portion of Townes Way located in

Section One, The Townes at Sonoma Pointe.



INITIATED BY: Engineering







Recommendation: Approval is requested for the acceptance of that portion of

Sorrel Drive and that portion of Townes Way located in Section One, The Townes

at Sonoma Pointe.



Background: That portion of Sorrel Drive and that portion of Townes Way

located in Section One, The Townes at Sonoma Pointe has (32) thirty-two

residential lots. The streets have been improved and meet the required

specifications for acceptance by the City.



Analysis: A deed has been conveyed to the City conveying that portion of

Sorrel Drive located in Section Seven, Sonoma Pointe. A description of property

is as follows: All those lots, tracts and parcels of land lying and being in

Land Lots 31 & 34 of the 9th District, Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia , and

shown as Sorrel Drive and Townes Way, as said roads and right-of-ways are shown

on the map or plat entitled "Section One, The Townes at Sonoma Pointe, Part of

Land Lot 31 & 34, 9th District, Columbus, Georgia", prepared by Hobbs Smith &

Associates, Inc., dated November 30, 2010, said plat recorded in Plat Book 162,

page 330, in the Office of the Clerk of Superior Court of Muscogee County,

Georgia.



Financial Considerations: No City funds are involved until maintenance is

assumed after the two-year warranty.



Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: No City funds are involved until

maintenance is assumed after the two-year warranty.



Legal Considerations: In Accordance with Section 18-3 of the Columbus Code,

all dedicated right-of-way must be accepted by Council.



Recommendations/ Actions: Approve the Resolution accepting a deed to that

portion of Sorrel Drive and that portion of Townes Way located in Section One,

The Townes at Sonoma Pointe.











A RESOLUTION

NO. _____

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF THAT PORTION OF SORREL DRIVE AND

THAT PORTION OF TOWNES WAY LOCATED IN SECTION ONE, THE TOWNES AT SONOMA POINTE

ON BEHALF OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA.

WHEREAS, Columbus, Georgia has been submitted a deed conveying that portion of

Sorrel Drive and that portion of Townes Way located in Section One, The Townes

at Sonoma Pointe, a full description of property on said deed; and,

WHEREAS, said streets have been improved and meet the required specifications

for acceptance by the City; and,

WHEREAS, the Engineering Department has inspected said streets and recommends

acceptance of same.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That certain deed dated February 2, 2011, conveying Columbus, Georgia that

portion of Sorrel Drive and that portion of Townes Way located in Section One,

The Townes at Sonoma Pointe be and the same is hereby accepted. The Clerk of

Council is hereby authorized to have deed recorded in the Deed Records in the

Office of the Superior Court of Muscogee County, Georgia. A copy of deed is

hereto attached and by this reference made a part of this resolution.
