Call to Order
The meeting was called to order on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 1:04 pm by L.
David Kitchens, Board Chair.
A quorum was met and recognized.
A moment of silence for those in need was conducted and opening prayer was
given by Jim Risher.

Board Education
Sherry Jenkins Tucker, Executive Director GAMHCN, Peer Support and Wellness
Center
Jamie Lynch, Director of Peer support and Wellness Decatur Location
Overview of Peer Support and Wellness Centers:
? Currently there are 3 locations ? Decatur, Cleveland, and Cartersville and
have been contracted for 2 more one of which is in Region 6
? Locations in Region 6 are being looked at
? Peer Centers are places in the community where people self-identify and find
a place for support
? The centers are ran by Certified Peer Specialists
? They are community based in order to help peers move forward in their lives
? Each center has a similar model but each is a little different based on the
surrounding communities
Intentional Peer Support (IPS):
? This is a trauma informed model of Peer Support
? It creates an environment of respect, trust, and relationships
Center specific Information:
? Wellness Activities
? Respite
? Individuals can have up to 7 days every 30 days
? All are welcome to come tour a center and assist in finding a feasible
location in Region 6
Nominating Committee

volunteered to form the nominating committee
? Motion to approve committee, Geraldine Jackson, 2nd Motion to approve, George

? Nominations will be brought forward at the May Meeting
Leadership Council Irene Cheyne Any issues that need to be raised can be brought to the
Leadership Council. Notify the Leadership Council members and they are willing
to present on your behalf.
MHPAC Jim Risher
Amy Kuhns Meeting was held on March 11, 2014:
? Technical Assistance Program updates in order to come into compliance with
Federal rules
? Legislative updates were discussed: Autism Bill, Food Stamp Bill, Gun Bill,
CSB Bill
? Foster Care Transition did occur on March 3rd ? DJJ and Foster Care were
transferred to CMO
? A Symposium will be held in June for C&A System, More information to follow
Regional Report

Provider Terminations:
? New Process for termination of providers not meeting expectations
? 2-step process, Department recommends termination of Contract/PA/LOA and then
letter is sent to provider and DCH
? DCH may terminate Medicaid provider number
DOJ Settlement:
? All DD transitions form State Hospitals has been suspended
? Direct result of the most recent DOJ Review report
? BH will most likely be released from the settlement at the end of year 4
BH:
? Legislature passed a CHINS program ? children who historically would have
went to DJJ
? New services in FY15: ICM (NHCSB area), CM (McIntosh Trail and Pathways Areas)
? January 1, 2015 ? new BHCC (x2) ? 24 bed CSU, 6 temporary observation beds
and 24/7 walk-in clinic
ASO:
? The RFP Posting has been delayed and should be out later this month
Additional Updates:
? Next Provider Meeting is March 26th
FY2015 RPB Planning

Forums:
? Start looking at planning for next year
? This should be a joint project by the RPB and the Regional Office
? Member support is needed for forums such as locations and volunteers
Board Meetings:
? Education suggestions for meetings are always welcome
? Suggestion of a different CSB being represented at each meeting
FY15 Annual Plan:
? New prevalence data was received
? Would the board like to use the new prevalence data in the FY15 Annual plan
? 1st Motion to approve replacing the prevalence date was given by Jim Risher,
2nd motion to approve was given by Lee Hubbard
Public Comments
Various
? Mileage Reimbursement forms were included in today?s packet
? Education to doctors in small towns regarding placements (specifically in
Meriwether county) would help
? Lee: once the new aging specialist is settled we will have them do community
education regarding placements

Chairman thanked Lee Johnson for his service and noted that this would be his
final Regional Board Meeting
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:11 pm
Next regularly scheduled meeting will be held May 14, 2014.
