SUBJECT: Quit Claim Deed on Property located at 941 Front Avenue
INITIATED BY: Felton G. Grant, Right of Way Acquisition Coordinator
Recommendation: Approval is requested to execute a Quit Claim with The Board
of Regents of the University System of Georgia for property located at 941
Front Avenue for clearing a Title at 941 Front Avenue (formally named Seaboard
Depot Building) that is overhanging on city property by roughly six (6)
inches. The Quit Claim Deed with description is attached.
Background: The Board of Regents of the University System discovered that the
building, referenced above, was encroaching the city right of way by six (6)
inches, while making arrangements to prepare for a closing with Foundation
Properties, Inc.
Analysis: The Board of Regents of the University System is asking for a Quit
Claim Deed to clear the Deed to match what is on the ground.
Financial Considerations: There is no expense to the City. The Board
referenced above is covering all expenses for closing, etc.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: N/A
Legal Considerations: The Council must approve the action by resolution.
Recommendations/ Actions: Authorizing the City Manager to execute a Quit Claim
Deed with The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia for the
purpose of clearing the encroachment by roughly six (6) inches on city property
at 941 Front Avenue (formally known as Seaboard Depot Building).

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THAT THE CITY MANAGER IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO EXECUTE
A QUIT CLAIM DEED TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA ON
PROPERTY LOCATED AT 941 FRONT AVENUE (FORMALLY NAMED SEABOARD DEPOT BUILDING)
THAT IS OVERHANGING ON CITY PROPERTY BY ROUGHLY SIX (6) INCHES.
WHEREAS, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia discovered
that the building at 941 Front Avenue was encroaching the city right of way by
roughly six (6) inches while they were making arrangements for a closing with
Foundation Properties, Inc.; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of Regents of the University of Georgia is asking for a Quit
Claim Deed to clear up the Deed to match what is on the ground; and,
WHEREAS, there is no expense to the City. The Board referenced above is
covering all expenses for closing, etc.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a Quit Claim Deed
with the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia on property
located at 941 Front Avenue (formally named Seaboard Depot Building) that is
overhanging on City Property by roughly six (6) inches.
