NO.



WHEREAS, Sergeant First Class (Ret) Phillip Liparoto, 30-year veteran of the

U.S. Army, died on August 3, 2008 at the age of 93;



WHEREAS, SFC Liparoto was born in Washington, Pennsylvania on June 24, 1915 and

served his country with great distinction and courage;



WHEREAS, SFC Liparoto joined the army as an Infantry Soldier in WWII, served in

the Korean conflict and in Vietnam;



WHEREAS, SFC Liparoto?s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal,

Purple Heart Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, American

Defense Medal D WWII, World War II Army of Occupation Medal, World War II

Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National

Defense Service Medal (1 Bronze Star), Vietnam Service Medal (4 Bronze Stars),

United Nations (UN) Korean Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam (RVN) Campaign

Medal and the Order of Saint Maurice;



WHEREAS, he was a long time member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the

Military Order of Purple Heart, Chapter 7 Disabled American Veterans, VFW Post

665 and The National Infantry Association;



WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mrs. Mildred Jean Liparoto of

Columbus, a son, Phillip Liparoto, Jr. of Garden Grove, California, three

daughters, Karen Evans of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Regina ?Reggie? Richards

Heinrich of Columbus, Kathy Marie Schell of Perry, Georgia; seven

grandchildren: Jennifer Key Lewis, Rebecca J. Antrobius, Brent M. Lindley,

Damon F. Orton, Scott Orton, Samantha C. Evans, Jeffrey A. Victor and two great

grandchildren.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:

We hereby express our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the family of

Sergeant First Class (Ret) Phillip Liparoto. His service to his country and to

the Columbus community will long be remembered. Let a copy of this Resolution

be forwarded to the family of Sergeant First Class (Ret) Phillip Liparoto.
