SUBJECT: Spring Fling Carnival Multi-Year Contract
INITIATED BY: Columbus Civic Center
Recommendation: Approval is needed to enter into a five-year agreement with
Drew Exposition d/b/a Event Coordinators, Inc., of Augusta, GA, for the annual
Spring Fling Carnival.
Background: The Spring Fling Carnival has been held since 2010 at the Columbus
Civic Center. Before that time the Civic Center had attempted several other
festivals without financial success. The Civic Center, in conjunction with
Drew Exposition, created a free admission for the Spring Fling Carnival.
Analysis: The contract reflects all expenses associated with the Spring Fling
Carnival. These include many expenses that would need to be paid by the
Columbus Civic Center regardless of weather for the outdoor event. The Civic
Center receives 20% of the gross receipts.
Financial Considerations: The Columbus Civic Center has generated more revenue
while minimizing risk with the current financial agreement.
Legal Considerations: Any lease agreement involving this City requires Council
approval.
Recommended /Actions: Approval is requested for the City Manager to enter into
a Lease agreement with Drew Exposition d/b/a Event Coordinators, Inc., for the
period of 2019 ? 2023 ensuring the routed dated for Columbus, GA.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A FIVE-YEAR LEASE
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COLUMBUS CIVIC CENTER AND DREW EXPOSITION d/b/a EVENT
COORDINATORS, INC.
WHEREAS, Drew Exposition d/b/a Event Coordinators, Inc. has agreed to provide
coordinating services for the Spring Fling Carnival at the Columbus Civic
Center; and,
WHEREAS, Drew Exposition and the Columbus Civic Center shall uphold the
recommended agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a five-year Lease
Agreement with Drew Exposition for coordinating services for the Spring Fling
Carnival at the Columbus Civic Center.
