SUBJECT: E911 Dispatch Donation
INITIATED BY: Finance Department
Recommendation: Approval is requested to accept a cash donation on behalf of
Columbus 911 Dispatch from deceased citizen Melinda Mewbourne for 911
operations.
Background: Per Synovus Securities, Ms. Mewbourne has passed away and she
listed Columbus 911 Dispatch as one of the beneficiaries on her Individual
Retirement Account. Synovus Securities is seeking to disburse the gift to the
City which is currently in the form of cash and securities.
Analysis: Finance department will facilitate depositing a cash donation that
will be used specifically for 911 operations.
Financial Considerations: This will be at no cost to the City as it is a
private donation.
Recommendation: Approval is requested to accept a cash donation on behalf of
Columbus 911 Dispatch from deceased citizen Melinda Mewbourne for 911
operations.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO APPROVE AND ACCEPT A CASH DONATION FROM
DECEASED CITIZEN MELINDA MEWBOURNE ON BEHALF OF COLUMBUS 911 DISPATCH FOR 911
OPERATIONS.
WHEREAS, Ms. Mewbourne has listed Columbus 911 Dispatch as one of the
beneficiaries on her Individual Retirement Account; and,
WHEREAS, Synovus Securities is seeking to disburse the gift to the City; and,
WHEREAS, Finance department will facilitate depositing a cash donation that
will be used specifically for 911 operations.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to accept a cash
donation from Ms. Melinda Mewbourne on behalf of Columbus 911 Dispatch for 911
operations.
