RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the organization known as Turn Around Columbus has requested an
honorary street designation for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Outdoor Learning
Trail;
WHEREAS, the areas encompassed are shown on the attached map and include Rigdon
Road, Illges Road, Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Tenth Street;
WHEREAS, the Board of Honor considered this project on July 15, 2015, and while
supporting the project, decided to refer the matter to Columbus Council for
official action as shown by the attached minutes;
WHEREAS, this Council supports the project and desires to approve an honorary
designation for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Outdoor Learning Trail.
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby approve the honorary designation of streets including Rigdon Road,
Illges Road, Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Tenth Street as the Martin
Luther King, Jr. Learning Trail as described on the attached map. This honorary
designation shall not change the official street map, but the Traffic Engineer
is hereby authorized to erect appropriate signage in a color distinguishable
from standard street signage.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
8th day of December, 2015, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote
of ________ members of Council.
