Agenda Item # 3

Columbus Consolidated Government

Council Meeting

04/26/2016

Agenda Report # 113

TO: Mayor and Council

SUBJECT: TIA Supplement Agreement No. 2 - US27/Custer Road

Interchange Reconstruction/Modification

INITIATED BY: Planning Department

Recommendation: Approval is requested to enter into a supplemental agreement

with the Georgia Department of Transportation to adjust the budget for the

Transportation Improvement Act Project, that will provide necessary funding for

engineering consulting services.

Background: The US27/Custer Road Interchange Reconstruction/Modification is a

Transportation Investment Act (TIA) project that was approved by voters in July

2012. The project will provide direct access to property located at the

intersection of US 27 (Victory Drive) and I-185 for the purposes of developing

a business park.

Analysis: A supplemental agreement is needed to modify the existing budget for

the above referenced project. Line items in the original contract for ROW and

construction have been reduced by a total of $700,000, with that amount being

applied to the line item for preliminary engineering.

Financial Considerations: The total amount of $20 million in TIA funds for

this project has not changed. This action will allow us to maintain our

contractural obligations with the consultants on this project.

Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: There will not be any annual fiscal

impact to the city for this action.

Legal Considerations: The City Attorney has approved this action.

Recommendations/Actions: Approval is requested to enter into a supplemental

agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation to adjust the budget

for the Transportation Improvement Act Project, that will provide necessary

funding for engineering consulting services.
